This political season has turned very nasty. We have all been bombarded by email, online and TV ads that have increasingly gotten negative. To make sure I am informed I usually check in on the details of various ads. A particular email pushed the wrong buttons with me. It was obvious that people are trying to spread fear for personal gain. Using religion to spread fear goes against everything the bible stands for, at least that is my opinion of the teachings of the bible. When I got the following email I knew right away that I had to post it and discuss it. |

This post is going to sound bad to some and others it will make sense. I am sick and tired of "Monday morning quarterbacks" trying to dictate to others what they should do with their personal life. Case in point, the pennlive forums are talking yet again about Leah Gingrich. There are important issues to discuss and people are worried about a decision made by an individual to do something for herself. I am sure she is not the only person in history to miss graduation for something important. Quite honestly, who cares that she missed it? It isn't a decision that is decided by the community! I am proud to see her making the decisions she did. She represented and is still representing our community. We should get behind her efforts, not denounce her because she traded the pomp and circumstance of graduation for that of the Olympic trials. So which one is more important? Well that decision is Leah's and Leah's alone. So to everyone out there who complains about her decision, get over yourself. She answers to herself and no one else. Keep making us proud Leah! |

Lately you can read many articles about technologies that will make energy and produce little or no emissions. I ran across a very interesting article on the topic. An MIT scientist has developed a better way to store the suns energy during the day for use at night. This has been done before, but not with the minimal amount of energy that this new process uses. The new method is also safe compared to other methods of doing the same thing. The process uses the energy captured during the day to create fuel, hydrogen and oxygen, for night use. The fuel could be used like a fuel cell to produce power at night, just like they are doing with hydrogen powered cars. I sure hope it doesn't take a decade to bring this to market like the article says. It would be nice if someone would bring a low cost way to produce energy to every home in the United States and around the world. Where should we focus our efforts? I think it should be focused on making each home and business energy neutral. This problem isn't a world, nation or state problem. It is a problem that starts at each and every person/home/business on the planet. The problem, that each person has, isn't knowing what they should do to be energy neutral, it is not having the money to afford the solution. The industry really needs to step up and help us all. This isn't about making profits, it's about giving each and every person the tools required to help save our environment and save some money in the process. It shouldn't be expensive to do the right thing. |
